Horatio Alger National Scholarship

The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. 
To be eligible to apply for the Horatio Alger National Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2020 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
  • Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
  • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2017 competition.
The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2018 competition.
  • Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • High school graduates are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.
Ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.

The Hagan Scholarship
Deadline: November 15, 2020
The Hagan Scholarships are intended for high achieving students who will require financial assistance in order to attend college.
  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  2. Must attend an Eligible Public High School.
  3. Must be a student in the 2020 high school graduating class.
  4. Must have achieved a high school CGPA of 3.75 or higher.
  5. Must have scored 24 or higher on the ACT (Composite Score) or 1,150 on the SAT.
  6. Must enroll at an eligible four-year college the first semester following high school graduation.
  7. Must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of college; from August 2019 to August 2020.
  8. Must complete the FAFSA in 2019 using 2018 tax return information; the EFC must not exceed $6,500.
  9. Must apply for eligible Federal and State grants.
  10. Must not have been convicted of a felony.
The intended recipient of a Hagan Scholarship is a high achieving self-motivated student in need of financial assistance in order to attend college.

MSBA Future Builders Belcher Scholarship
Deadline: Due to Mrs. Johnson no later than November 17, 2020 
  • Students need to complete the application, print it off, and turn it in to Mrs. Johnson. 
  • An essay is also required. The essay topic is at the end of the scholarship application.
  • Application needs to be typed. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
Miami R-1 School Board will then select one student's application to represent Miami to compete for the scholarship.

The National FFA Organization provides scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. 

Dr. Darrell ""Jack"" Holley Scholarship
Deadline: Due to Mrs. Johnson by January 20, 2021 to Mrs. Johnson  (TYPED) Just application is due by then. The student chosen to represent Miami will then need to complete the other steps by the due date of Feb. 19, 2021.
Miami R-1 School Board will then select one student's application to represent Miami as a candidate for the scholarship.


JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship

​Each year, the U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools.


Ed Stegner Natural Resources Scholarship

Applicants must be Missouri residents from any county or city in the state who are or plan to be enrolled as an undergraduate at a Missouri college or university in the chosen discipline of study (Fisheries, Forestry, Wildlife, Parks and Recreation, or Soil and Water).  


DAR Scholarships

Each year the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of higher education in diverse areas of study including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science and English.

Youth in Agriculture highlights the important contributions that youth and farm families make to Missouri. Young people involved in Youth in Agriculture learn valuable lessons in leadership, economics and the tried-and-true ethics of hard work and perseverance.

West Central Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship

This one year non-renewal scholarship of at least $500 will be awarded to a senior student in the West Central Retired School Personnel Association District who is choosing the teaching profession as a career goal.

State 4-H Foundation Scholarship

The Missouri 4‐H Foundation is pleased to announce educational scholarships for 4‐H youth and former 4‐H members pursuing post‐secondary study. One scholarship application form permits the applicant to be considered for any available scholarship, subject to conditions specified by the donor.


​Missouri Association Mutual Insurance Companies (MAMIC)

The Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (MAMIC) awards 8 - $1000 scholarships to graduating Missouri high school seniors planning to attend a Missouri college, university, community college, or vocational school. 

Missouri Bankers Foundation Scholarship

Applicants must be planning to major in a field related to banking, such as accounting, or finance.

MFA Foundation Scholarship

The amount of the scholarship is $2,000. The scholarship may be used at the college or university of your choice and toward any course of study you desire to pursue. In making its decision, the committee considers scholastic progress, citizenship, extra-curricular activities, educational plans, and financial need. Opal M. Huffman, a long time resident of Bates County, Missouri, established the Opal M. Huffman Charitable Trust for the purpose of providing scholarships to residents of Adrian and Butler, Missouri communities and surrounding areas.

Missouri Farm Bureau and its Foundation For Agriculture work to promote agricultural education and grow new generations of leaders. Many generous donors have contributed to scholarship and grant funds that MOFB assists in administering and distributing.

Charles E. Kruse Farm Bureau Scholarship

Recipients must be Missouri residents and they, their parent(s), or guardians must hold a current Missouri Farm Bureau membership. They also must be a high school senior enrolling in a 4-year college or university with a declared major in an agricultural field and enrolled in the fall semester of the year in which the scholarship is awarded.

Bates County Cattlemen/Cattlewomen Scholarship
Deadline: May 1, 2020
Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded, by the Bates County Cattlemen.  One to a young man, and one to a young woman. 
One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded by the Bates County Cattlewomen, to a young woman.
Applicants must be a Bates County resident and can be either high school seniors or graduates continuing their education.  The applicant must plan to major in an agricultural related field and must have been accepted by an accredited college or university offering AA, BS, or BA degree.  The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, and required books during the next semester after receipt of the award.

B. Davis Scholarship
Application Deadline:  May 22, 2020
Open to high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.
No age restriction.
Include your name and the school you are attending this year and next.
To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on the topic, Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.  Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.

All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in.  Must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute. Aspiring Nurse Scholarship

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics
+ A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare
