A GIANT THANKS to Josh Nieder and Seth Black for organizing and taking care of all the details that have to happen in an event like we had on Saturday. And yes it was an EVENT-great participants, great spectators, great sponsors and fun had by all at the Miami Alumni Basketball Tournament!

Along with all the reminiscing and great basketball, the event raised close to $1900 to go toward travel gear for the basketball teams and $273.25 which will be divided between the Miami Junior and Senior classes.
Again thanks to all for the memories!

These students attended 5/6th grade Honor Choir on Sat., March 4th at UCM in Warrensburg.  The 5th grade was directed by Grammy nominee Daniel Gutierrez, and the 6th grade by award-winning composer/conductor Mr. Ryan Main. They joined a few hundred other students for a fun day of rehearsing and learning, followed by a concert at 2:30.
Kindergarten and first grade celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by participating in six different centers. The books involved in the centers were Hop on Pop, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Go Dogs, Go!, The Cat in the Hat, Fox in Socks, and Yertle the Turtle.  The students made towers with cups, created graphs, and matched rhyming words.
The Wizard of Oz play set preparation is well under way!
The first grade class celebrated the 100th day of school by counting by 2s, 5s, 10s, and 20s. They also did Science experiments and math problems involving the number 100. Oh yeah, can't forget the cupcakes for the celebration!

Second Grade's Spooky Restaurant
We had a cross curricular unit. For social studies, each student had to create a spooky restaurant. They had to list their resources, determine if they were human, capital, or natural. Also, they talked about goods, services, producers, consumers, scarcity, and supply/demand. Each student created a menu and advertised their restaurant. For math, each student had the opportunity to practice buying items from their friends. With this, they were using addition with regrouping to determine the total price. On our final day, we opened our classroom restaurant. We produced the food. Kindergarten visited and were great guests. We served them, found their total, and practiced being good hosts abd hostesses.
