Parents as Teachers
Kids don't come with instructions....Parents as Teachers can help!
What is Parents as Teachers?
PAT is a program based on the belief that parents are their children's first and most influential teachers. This is a voluntary and free program that provides practical and effective help for all Missouri families with children birth to kindergarten. Prenatal visits are also available and encouraged.
Services provided by Parents as Teachers
*Personal Visits-PAT certified parent educator helps parents understand each stage of the child's development and offer practical tips to encourage learning, while supporting family well-being. Children are provided with new activities each visit.
*Group Connections-Here, you find that you are not alone. PAT schedules time for parents to come together, to gain new insights and share experiences, common concerns and successes.
*Screenings-PAT offers yearly screenings of overall development, language, hearing and vision. The goal is to provide early detection of potential concerns to prevent later difficulties in school.
*Referral Network-Families are linked to special services, if needed, that are beyond the scope of the program through an up-to-date local network.
