Miami R-1 School District Earns a 94.2% on 2015 Annual Performance Report
The Miami R-I School District shows continued improvement on their Annual Performance Report (APR). Every district in the state is evaluated on the same criteria: Academic Achievement, Subgroup Achievement, College and Career Readiness, Attendance, and Graduation Rate. The district earned 130 out of a possible 138 points 94.2% on the 2015 APR compared to 119/140 points 85% in 2014, and 110.5/140 points 71.8% in 2013. This improvement is the result of an increase of student and staff awareness, pride, and desire to become a high achieving school district. Miami’s score ranks among the highest among schools in the west central area. The district has seen a significant increase since implementing the 4-day school week. This could be coincidence or a result of improved attendance and morale among staff and students. Whatever the case, the students and teachers, all, are very proud of their achievements and accomplishments.

We've been studying mixtures and solutions this week. We started off with a snack that we decided was a heterogeneous mixture. The students explored different mixtures in a science center and had to determine if it was a solution, colloid, suspension or heterogeneous mixture. We also got to see how you can boil or evaporate a salt water solution and the salt is left behind. Later we made two solar water distillers, one using salt water and one with muddy water that should produce fresh, drinkable water! Click to see pictures NHS Induction
