Hello! It is my hope that this page will help keep you informed of what is happening in the Title I program at Miami R-1 Elementary, as well as become a valuable resource for students and parents. We are a SchoolWide Title I building. What this means, is that we have a federally funded program that allows us to provide additional instruction as needed to improve students’ reading skills. Each week I meet with groups of students in grades K-6 for about 30 minutes a day. We work on fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, word work, and writing. I monitor each student’s progress and use that data to determine the next steps in their instruction. The groups I work with are fluid. I may work with a student anywhere from two weeks to an entire school year. It depends on what the student needs. I will update this page regularly with information that may help you as you work with your child at home. I welcome any questions, suggestions, or comments you may have about this program. You may contact me via my school email at: jjames@miamik12.net
